The Cook is coming to Wincanton!

Following our successful opening of the 2012 Woking Drama Festival where we were nominated for “best new play” and “best use of lighting”, The Fringe Files are truly excited to be stopping off in the heart of Somerset with our one act whodunit parody The Cook Did It! on Nov 3rd at the Wincanton Memorial Hall where we will be performing twice in one day (3pm and 8pm!)

Tickets are available for just £3 and may be purchased through our online box office directly. Limited tickets will also be available at the door.

The once thriving Old Barn Country Hotel plays host to an unwanted spate of sinister deaths. However, nobody is convicted, public interest quickly wanes and the cases are filed away as unsolved. Cue Jenkins, a local video store clerk and keen amateur detective, who believes he has unravelled a pattern linking the victims. Jenkins undertakes the task of identifying the killer armed with notes written on a collection of multi-coloured post-it pads. Unfortunately events soon take a turn for the worse and suspicion becomes rife amongst the guests. Suddenly everybody has something to hide, except the cook, who’s really nice.

Miss Fortune Edinburgh Fringe Video

Last year The Fringe Files produced the world premiere of Michael Starr‘s then brand new noir inspired stage play The Curse of Miss Fortune at Bristol & London. The show then transferred up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it performed to sell out audiences. In fact, the final night a further 50% audience capacity were turned away at the box office such was ticket demand.

A year on, we are delighted to announce the full & un-interupted public video release of one of those Edinburgh performances onto YouTube and here it is:-

Thanks Woking, now on to Wincanton!

A huge thank you to everybody who made the journey in horrid weather to come and support us at the Woking Drama Festival yesterday for what was our first performance of The Cook Did It! It was a tad rough around the edges admittedly but I think we did a good job overall and we’re very proud of what we achieved.

Time for a short break now before we re-group on Sunday to discuss our thoughts and the much valued, and mostly positive, feedback provided to us by the festival adjudicator.

If you couldn’t make the journey to Woking, don’t worry, we’ll be bringing the show to both Wincanton & Bristol in a couple of weeks. Speaking of which, tickets are available :)

Woking Tech 07/10

The Fringe Files arrived at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre (in Woking) yesterday for our technical run through. Here are some stills from that session. That’s it, the set is on site, everything is now in place, ready to roll for Thursday.

Please do come along and check out our performance of The Cook Did It! which opens the 2012 Woking Drama Festival at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre on October 11th (Thursday) at 7.30pm. We are one of two performances that night and tickets are just £8 for both shows combined. A full evenings entertainment! Tickets are available directly from the WDA box office.

The Cook Did It! is a fantastic show, the cast and crew have worked super hard to pull it together and we really do appreciate any support up there for what will be “an away game” for us.

The Cook Did It! Rehearsals 30/09

Time is drawing near for our forthcoming production of the wonderfully quirky The Cook Did It! and rehearsals stepped up a gear this weekend as we moved into a larger scale rehearsal space. Most of the technical elements have now been mapped out leaving just an overall tightening up for us to focus on. Less than two weeks left people, eek!

Please do come along and support us where you can, be it in Woking (where we’ll be opening the Drama Festival), Wincanton (2 shows in 1 day) or Bristol (a raw fringe style finale at the Drawbridge, next door to the Hippodrome). Tickets are super cheap and can be claimed through our box office. Thank you everybody! Do not leave this until the last moment, we wouldn’t want you missing out on this one!
